Pre-Arrival Checklist: What to do before you leave home

Congratulations on making the decision to study at Richard Bland College of William & Mary! We’re ready to welcome you on campus. Here's a quick and easy checklist of what you need to do before you arrive in Virginia:

Pay SEVIS fee and make appointment with the U.S. embassy or consulate

Make an appointment with the U.S. embassy or consulate to obtain your F-1 visa. Please notify the RBC GSSP staff as soon as you’ve received your visa by email:

Full payment of initial invoice

Payment of your initial invoice is due upon receipt of your F-1 Visa, or within two weeks of arrival, whichever comes first. Please note that you will not be enrolled in classes until your invoice has been paid in full.

Arrival forms/Airport pick-up request

Make travel arrangements to arrive at Richmond International Airport one day prior to your orientation date. As soon as you have booked your flights, please complete the online arrival form so we will know your arrival information.


Complete all testing

Students should go to the RBC website to read and follow the Math Practice Placement Testing directions:

Click on ‘Complete Practice math test’ – you will need to enter your ID number which can be found on the admit letter sent along with your i-20 (number should start with R).


Submit your housing request form

On-campus housing is required for RBC GSSP students. Please submit your International Student Housing Request form to secure your spot. Form may be sent by email:


Submit immunizations forms

Make an appointment with your doctor for your health exam and to receive all required immunizations. You must bring your Immunization forms with you to your appointment. Please submit your Certificate of Immunization forms to the Office of Residence Life Richard Bland College:
