International student support

RBC understands the transition to university level study can be challenging and recognizes the importance of meeting your academic and personal needs during your studies. To help you develop the skills you need to successfully complete your studies, we offer a variety of different student and academic support services, including:

  • career counseling
  • personalized academic advising
  • social activities
  • tutoring and writing labs
  • 24/7 emergency assistance


Learner Mentors

Each student is assigned a Learner Mentor at orientation. Your Learner Mentor will explain prerequisites, transfer options and help you develop a personalized study plan to ensure that all required courses are satisfactorily completed.

Learner Mentors will also:

  • assist the learner’s journey as a single point of contact
  • guide students through academic advising and career coaching

  • help students navigate the transfer process
  • connect students to supplemental support for classwork or life-skill development


The Exceptional Student Experience

The Exceptional Student Experience at Richard Bland College helps students jump-start their college journey with small, focused New Student Training, Advising & Registration Sessions (STARS). The purpose of the STARS Program at RBC is to provide sessions that will assist new college students in becoming academically oriented while introducing students to resources and technology for advising, registration, and college support services.


When you come to Richard Bland College of William & Mary, you bring particular passions, hobbies, and skills with you. Student organizations are the place for you meet other students with the same interests. When you join or start a student organization, you get the chance to do what you love. When you lead a student organization, you teach and share it with someone else. When you start a club for future students, you leave a legacy that continues to contribute to

Richard Bland College is minutes away from picturesque hiking and biking trails, rivers, golf courses, state parks, and more.

The Richard Bland College Library, located in The Student Commons, is a comfortable, welcoming, two-story facility with seating for over 225 students. Collaborative work is encouraged on the first floor of the library, and the second floor

has been designated a quiet study area.


Student Success Center

Located on the first floor of the library, the Student Success Center offers a wide variety of student support services including academic advising, disability services, peer-led and online tutoring, career and emotional counseling, and personal and professional development workshops.


Counseling Services

Richard Bland College is committed to offering a variety of counseling services to assist students with their overall development and adjustment to campus. Free and confidential counseling is available for individuals or groups of students needing help with personal and academic concerns.


Public Safety

The mission of the Richard Bland College Department of Campus Safety & Police is to provide a safe and secure living, learning, and working environment for the College community. The Department is staffed by certified police officers 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
