Welcome to Virginia
Petersburg, Virginia
Richard Bland College of William & Mary is located in central Virginia, about 30 minutes south of the state capital of Richmond. The campus is 750 picturesque acres situated within a beautiful pecan grove, an Asian water garden, nature trails, and historic properties.
The Center of America’s History
The RBC campus is close to art museums, galleries, restaurants, and shopping in historic Old Towne Petersburg. Virginia was an important location during the American Civil War and today you can visit trading stations and museums and take a day trip to Petersburg battlegrounds. In fact, the area has been the filming location for many Civil War-themed television shows and movies including Mercy Street and Steven Spielberg’s 2012 film, Lincoln.

Rivers, Beaches, and More
Enjoy peaceful afternoons on a canoe, kayak, or boat as you travel down the James and Appomattox Rivers. The Atlantic Ocean, the beautiful beaches of Virginia Beach, and even the Appalachian Mountains are so close that they make great one-day trips to explore the outdoors.

Close to Big Opportunities
For a taste of the city, Richmond is a half-hour drive away. Washington D.C., the nation’s capital, and home to many Fortune 500 companies, is a two-hour drive or train ride away.
